Maths for primary school
A course for years 4-8. Every lesson explains one idea starting from "why this works", names the common mistake and gives short exercises to try right after the explanation. Once you have worked through a topic, you can test yourself on our exercises.
Materials
Open the lesson materials and start learning.
The course follows the Polish national curriculum for primary school: one module corresponds to one section, in its original numbering. That way you will find a topic exactly where it sits in your class programme.
What you will learn
You understand where the rules come from instead of memorising them
You know when a rule must NOT be applied - and why
You meet the common mistakes before you make them in a test
You practise right after the explanation, on short exercises with answers
Who this course is for
A pupil in years 4-8
Every lesson explains one idea from scratch - you do not need the earlier ones to follow this one.
A parent helping with homework
The "why it works" explanation helps when a child asks about something we ourselves only memorised.
A teacher
A ready explanation, a diagram and exercises to use in class or set as homework.
How to use the materials
Read the lesson
Each lesson takes one topic and explains it from the "why it works" side, with drawings and worked examples. No account needed.
Work the examples yourself
Cover the solution, do it your own way, and only then compare. That is the difference that makes it stick.
Test yourself on exercises
Every curriculum topic has sets of exercises with step-by-step solutions. You can also open a blank PhiBoard and work the problem your own way.
Frequently asked questions
Is the course free?
Yes, entirely and without limits. There is no paid tier and no account needed.
Which school years is it for?
Years 4-8 of primary school. The topics match the scope of that stage.
Can I use the lessons in class?
Yes. We only ask that you keep the note about the source. We are a small independent team in Europe and everything here is free - we want these materials to reach as many people as possible, so if they are useful in your class or among teachers you know, please pass them on.
How is this different from a textbook?
The order is reversed: we first explain where a rule comes from and only then write it down. Each lesson also names the common mistake outright.
